Sina Fakour is a visual artist, graphic and type designer, researcher, and educator. His practice explores language, writing systems, code, and translation across print, multilingual typography, editorial design, creative coding, installation, tool-making, and video. He engages with ancient and contemporary writing systems, focusing on their historical and social dimensions. This includes extensive research into the typographic representation of Linear Elamite, a writing system dating to 2300–1880 BCE. He has presented at ATypI, Stanford Face/Interface, and Grafematik, and his work has received recognition including a Type Directors Club award. He regularly collaborates with art schools as a lecturer, jury member, and workshop instructor. He is an Assistant Professor at the American University of Beirut and a member of the AUB Arabic Type Unit. His portfolio includes Hybrid Calendars, Library of Babel, and Programme of Language, alongside typefaces, visual identities, and experimental tools that connect editorial practice with computational approaches to design.
سينا فكور فنان بصري ومصمّم جرافيكي ومصمّم خطوط وباحث ومدرّس. يستكشف اللغة وأنظمة الكتابة والشيفرة والترجمة عبر المطبوعات والتصميم الطباعي متعدد اللغات والتصميم التحريري والبرمجة الإبداعية والأعمال التركيبية وصنع الأدوات والفيديو. يتناول أنظمة الكتابة القديمة والمعاصرة من زاويتَيها التاريخية والاجتماعية، ومن ذلك بحث موسّع في تصميم حروف طباعية للكتابة العيلامية الخطية، التي يعود تاريخها إلى الفترة بين ٢٣٠٠ و١٨٨٠ قبل الميلاد. قدّم أعماله وأبحاثه في «إيه تاي بي آي» و«فيس/إنترفيس» بجامعة ستانفورد و«غرافيماتيك»، وحصل على تقدير شمل جائزة من «تايب دايركتورز كلَب». يتعاون بانتظام مع مدارس الفنون محاضراً وعضواً في لجان التحكيم ومدرّباً للورش. وهو أستاذ مساعد في الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت وعضو في وحدة الحرف العربي فيها. تشمل مشاريعه «هايبرد كالندرز» و«لايبراري أوف بابل» و«بروغرام أوف لانغويج»، إلى جانب خطوط وهويات بصرية وأدوات تجريبية تجمع بين التصميم التحريري واستخدام الحوسبة في التصميم.
